Poonamben Maadam, the two-term Member of Parliament from Jamnagar filed nomination for her third term on April 19. On the occasion, senior BJP leaders, party workers and her supporters joined her.
The BJP repeated Poonamben, who is popularly known as the daughter of Halar, third time for the Jamnagar Lok Sabha constituency and her name appeared in the first list of candidates declared by the party.
Before filing the nomination form, Poonamben took blessings of her mother and went to the party office where she met senior party leaders before heading to the district collector’s office to submit her nomination form. Senior leaders including Cabinet Ministers Raghavji Patel and Mulubhai Bera, former Cabinet Ministers R. C. Faldu, Vasuben Trivedi and Chimanbhai Sapariya, Deputy Whip in Gujarat Assembly Jagdish Makwana, all BJP MLAs of Jamnagar and Devbhumi Dwarka districts and other office-bearers of the party remained present.
Addressing the mediapersons after submitting her nomination form, Poonamben said, “While I was campaigning for the last one month or during the Vijay Sankalp Rally we have focussed on the development work done and I have witnessed the energy and excitement among the people. In the past also, we have received people’s blessings and I am sure that this time as well people of Halar will join in large numbers to continue the journey of Viksit Bharat imagined by our Honourable Prime Minister.” She expressed confidence that BJP will win with a record margin in Jamnagar and Halar region will enthusiastically participate in the journey of Viksit Bharat.
